In mid-April you’ll have the opportunity to partake in an event that showcases the highly energized Downtown art scene while celebrating and honoring the community that drives it!

“DTLB Art Walk: Celebrate Downtown Edition,” happening Saturday, April 13 from 4 to 9 PM, will combine the Art Walk tradition of Downtown exploration with the awards presentation “Celebrate Downtown,” in which shining lights of the DTLB community have been honored annually by the Downtown Long Beach Alliance since 2012.

“Art and community are intertwined in the very DNA of Downtown Long Beach,” said Austin Metoyer, President and CEO. “By bringing together the Art Walk with Celebrate Downtown, we are not just hosting an event, we are crafting an experience that celebrates our collective identity, resilience, and creativity.”

The Downtown Long Beach Alliance is collaborating with the Arts Council for Long Beach, LBMA Downtown, Grey LB, and Studio One Eleven to present the festivities, which are sponsored by the Port of Long Beach, County Supervisor Janice Hahn, and Air Products.

Attendees can look forward to many awesome art and design activations, including a brand new exhibit at the iconic former Acres of Books building where Celebrate Downtown will take place; a special pop-up at Studio One Eleven, several artists showcasing their works at LBMA Downtown, Hellada Gallery, where there will be a “Long Beach Masterpiece” art contest; Record Box, presenting the exhibition COVERS, featuring artists who have created one-of-a-kind album covers of already-famous albums; and several activations along 1st Street in the East Village Arts District, among many more art-infused Downtown locations!

Downtown is where great art happens! Be there on April 13, be a part of the Downtown art scene, and give a shout-out to community members who will be recognized for giving us even more reasons to celebrate Downtown.
