LONG BEACH, CA (March 11, 2024)This April, Downtown Long Beach (DTLB) will be home to a fusion of creativity, community, and celebration. The Downtown Long Beach Alliance is proud to announce the quarterly art walk, and third in the series, as “DTLB Art Walk: Celebrate Downtown Edition.” Similar to previous DTLB art walks, the effort is a collaboration between the Downtown Long Beach Alliance, Arts Council for Long Beach, LBMA Downtown, Grey LB, and Studio One Eleven.

The event will take place on Saturday, April 13, from 4 to 9 PM. This program will meld the refreshed Art Walk experience with the cherished Celebrate Downtown festivities which have taken place annually since 2012. This merger of programs will blend the best of Downtown Long Beach’s vibrant arts scene and its spirit of community.

“Our vision for the Downtown Long Beach Art Walk: Celebrate Downtown Edition is to create a seamless celebration that embodies the heart and soul of our community,” said President & CEO Austin Metoyer. “Art and community are intertwined in the very DNA of Downtown Long Beach. By bringing together the Art Walk with Celebrate Downtown, we are not just hosting an event, we are crafting an experience that celebrates our collective identity, resilience, and creativity.”

In this special edition, the Art Walk will serve as the canvas and Celebrate Downtown will be a major programmatic component. This unique combination is designed to elevate the visibility of the arts, the East Village, the Design District, and honor those who contribute to the flourishing Downtown area, creating a cohesive celebration that spotlights the rich tapestry of Downtown.

This edition will feature not only the diverse array of local artistry that participants have come to expect but also special recognitions and moments that capture the essence of Downtown’s communal spirit.

Additional details including artist showcases, DJs, performances, sponsors and more will be announced as the program date approaches but expect art and design activations at Studio One Eleven, the iconic former Acres of Books building at Onni East Village, LBMA Downtown, and more. Artists interested in participating in the event and being featured in promotions may fill out this interest form here. Interest applications are set to close at midnight on Wednesday, March 20.

The Downtown Long Beach Alliance also continues to accept nominations for the annual Spirit of Downtown Awards, which will be awarded at the Celebrate Downtown component of the art walk.
