Grand Opening Assistance

Thank you for choosing to invest in our Downtown! Scroll down and complete the form below if you would like assistance with your grand opening event.

Welcome to the Neighborhood! We are so fortunate to have your business join our Downtown Long Beach community and we would love to share the grand opening event with our stakeholders.

  • Is your DTLB business on the ground floor?
  • Do you have a grand opening event scheduled?

The DTLB Alliance staff would like to support your event in several ways:

Market and promote the grand opening event (if open to the public)

There are many ways to share the opening of your business. The first is to list the event on our DTLB Alliance calendar of events. Simply add a graphic and the details of the event into this form and we will share on our website, newsletter, and social media channels.

The second is to tag us in your existing social media channels and we will reshare the details of not only the event itself but the business’ offerings.

Organize and execute the Certificate Presentations and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

DTLB Alliance staff wants to ensure your business is connected to all of the elected officials that serve our region, as well as provide these elected officials with the opportunity to share your venture with their constituents. We will first invite these officials to your event, while connecting you with their staff directly. We will then schedule, organize, and conduct the ribbon cutting ceremony at your event, allowing each elected official the opportunity to also welcome you to the neighborhood and present Certificates of Recognition that you can then proudly display in your business. The ribbon cutting ceremony would not be complete without the signature “cutting of the ribbon” with a giant pair of scissors, which we will conduct for you so you and your family can enjoy the moment while getting the best images of the business.

Market and promote the grand opening event, as well as the ground floor business

These professional photographs of the ribbon cutting ceremony will also include snippets of activity (e.g., people, products) from inside the business that will be shared with you for future marketing. In real time, our marketing staff, as well as the elected officials will share the ceremony images on their media outlets to bring awareness and support from all of their constituents.

Accentuate the grand opening of the business with a vinyl banner

Visibility is key when it comes to making an entrance and the DTLB Alliance wants to ensure that our community knows your business is open and ready to serve. We will work with your staff to capture images of the business and place them on our Opposite of Ordinary branded welcome banners to highlight the unique features of your business.

Vinyl banner is approximately 5 ft long and 2.5 feet high

If this all sounds great to you, please complete the brief form below or connect with our Business Navigator, Ariel, at BusinessNavigator@dtlb.org and we’ll walk you through the options and process.

Thank you for choosing Downtown Long Beach!

Please note: Any grand opening assistance requests must be submitted at least two weeks in advance of the event date.

Recommendations:

  • The grand opening event does not have to be the day or week your business opens its doors. We recommend having a soft opening for a few weeks in order to fine-tune your business operations. This way when you set your grand opening event date you and your staff are prepared to make a good first impression.
  • It is good idea to develop a program agenda for your grand opening event, this could include a speech, ribbon cutting ceremony, musical performances, and so forth.
  • It is a good idea to have someone dedicated to overseeing the event and run of show.
  • Publicize your grand opening event date. For example:
    • Make a flyer to pass out and to distribute online
    • Create a Facebook event page to help spread the word
