Downtown Long Beach Art Walk: July 13, 2024

The DTLB Art Walk, the fourth in the quarterly series, will take place on Saturday, July 13, throughout Downtown Long Beach’s unique neighborhoods. All are encouraged to attend, support local artists, visit and shop at participating Downtown businesses, and explore the following exhibitions and activations on Saturday, July 13:

FEATURED EXHIBIT

🌎SpaceTime Collaborative Exhibition 📍Former Acres of Books Building (240 Long Beach Blvd.)

The SpaceTime Collaborative creates innovative projects and events that inspire wonder and curiosity.

EAST VILLAGE ARTS DISTRICT

🌚Summer of UBE (1 – 8 PM)  📍1st St. between Linden and Elm

Ube Fest is an exciting celebration of the vibrant flavors and culture surrounding Ube! Taking place in the East Village Arts District, this festival will feature an array of ube-inspired dishes, desserts, and beverages from local vendors.

🎥LBMA Downtown (5 – 9 PM)  📍LBMA Downtown 356 E 3rd St.

The Long Beach Museum of Art is excited to present “Chris Eckert: Overload,” an exhibition running from July 13 to October 6, 2024, at LBMA Downtown. Artist Chris Eckert’s large-scale installations, both inside and outside the museum, use machinery to explore themes of surveillance, control, privacy, and misinformation.

Celebrate the 9-year anniversary of J Graphix with their hard-working team! The celebration will feature tattoo artists, food and beverage vendors, candles, clothing, artists, and more!

🧟Tiny Terrors 7th Annual Group Show (6 – 9 PM) 📍Dark Art Emporium Gallery & Oddities (427 E. 1st St.)

Dark Art Emporium is back at it with their first show since moving to their new location in the East Village Arts District! Featuring the works of over 70 artists from all over the world, each piece is tiny and under 10″ x 10″.

🎶House Music on Vinyl📍 Foot Work Records (400 E. 3rd St.)

Visit Downtown’s newest record shop, Foot Work Records, check out some works by local artists and dance to House music on vinyl throughout the evening.

🪴Pottery Market + $15 Paint-a-Pot 📍 Clay on First Pottery Studio / Cone 11 Studio (406 E. 1st St.)

Clay on First Pottery Studio and Cone 11 Studio are joining forces for DTLB Art Walk with a pottery market featuring 30 to 40 artists, as well as $15 paint-a-pot classes.

NORTH PINE

💆‍♀️ManiFEST Neighborhood NPNA Block Party (4 – 7 PM) 📍 Molina Healthcare Building Parking Lot (604 Pine Ave.)

A FREE neighborhood ‘Block Party’ that centers around mental health and wellness in the North Pine neighborhood area, specifically areas of North Pine neighborhood between 6th Street and Anaheim from Pacific to Long Beach Blvd. There will be: DJ and Long Beach performers, Meditation practitioners, a children’s interactive art project and a raffle + more!

The Promenade will be alive with art activations at Raven & the Wolves Tattoo, The Ordinaire Tavern, Intertrend, and more!

🎨Artist Village (2 – 7 PM)  📍Grey LB 237 Long Beach Blvd.

Artist Village will serve as the vibrant hub of the Art Walk, showcasing a diverse range of artworks from local artists! 

🎬The Genius of Place: The Life and Work of Geoffrey Bawa, Sri Lanka’s Premier Architect (4 – 6 PM)  📍 Studio One Eleven 245 E 3rd St. 

Studio One Eleven will host a special viewing of a documentary celebrating Sri Lanka’s Premier Architect, Geoffrey Bawa.The screening will be followed by a panel discussion featuring experts in architecture and design, offering insights into Bawa’s influence and contributions to modern architecture.

Stop by ISM Brewing & Kitchen on the Promenade and check out pieces by local artists Dave Van Patten, James Carey, and Kashira Edghill.

🎨While West (2 PM – Late)📍Altar Society (230 Pine Ave.) 

The upcoming art show While West, co-organized by Hunnibuzz, celebrates the city’s diversity with over 45 artists and five musical acts. Held at Altar Society, Long Beach’s oldest building, the event will feature a pop-up gallery showcasing both contemporary and traditional art forms that reflect the vibrant culture of our community. While West serves as a tribute to the abundant talent among us, affirming Long Beach’s rightful place on the artistic map.

Stop in and enjoy the fine art at The Raven & The Wolves gallery! Their open floor plan is a hidden gem atop the local watering hole, The Ordinarie. Enjoy sparkling bevs and snacks while taking in the art of Raven’s 12 high caliber tattoo artists and fine art from artists around the globe.

🎶🎨Be Here Now presents Dear Long Beach (7 – 11:30 PM)📍Grey LB, (237 Long Beach Blvd.)

Only DTLB can serve up amazing local art and music like this! Dear Long Beach, happening Saturday July 13 at Grey LB, 237 Long Beach Blvd. from 7 to 11:30 PM, features an eclectic, fantastic live music lineup, along with installations by three superb local artists.
