Elinor Drinkery Celebrates Elinor Otto’s 100th Birthday!
October 12, 2019 @ 7:00 pm - 11:59 pm
On October 12th, Elinor Otto, America’s longest working Rosie the Riveter, will celebrate her 100th birthday at Elinor Drinkery! The festivities will include an appearance by Elinor, live music, and a Rosie the Riveter inspired art exhibition.
Earlier this year on National Rosie the Riveter Day, we opened the doors to our “uncommon drinkery for common people” not just as an homage to barrier-breaking women, but also to our local history.
Elinor spent fifty years of her storied aviation career working production lines in Long Beach while assembling Boeing’s C-17 Globemaster III cargo planes. At the age of 94, her career came to a halt after the company ceased production in 2014. In addition to the C-17, she helped build thousands of World War II fighter planes and commercial airline jets.
Elinor’s story is a symbol of everything we hold true to ourselves. Women that go to work, women that get things done, regardless of traditional roles, perceptions and stereotypes. It’s a symbol of bucking the system right here in our beloved city of Long Beach. Join us as we celebrate our very own National Treasure.
Elinor (Drinkery) is located behind and attached to MADE by Millworks – enter through the alley at 250 NORTH Tribune Court or at the back of the MADE store.
FREE 2 hour parking can be found at the public parking garage on 3rd street behind the Harvey Milk Plaza, on the right-hand side just before Pine Ave.
This event is FREE to attend and is 21+ ONLY.
