(LONG BEACH, CA – June 22, 2023) During the first week of Summer, Downtown Long Beach Alliance (DLBA) launched a two-month Summer Scavenger Hunt designed to encourage residents and visitors to explore art, activations and support small businesses in Downtown Long Beach (DTLB). The winner with the most points at the end of the two-month challenge will be awarded $500 in gift cards to Downtown businesses. Second through tenth place will each win $100 in gift cards, and 11th through 20th will each win $25 gift cards, all to local businesses.
“We’re super excited to launch this hunt to encourage people to find all the cool things DTLB has to offer,” said DLBA Placemaking Manager Stephanie Gonzalez. “This is one of DLBA’s best programs aimed at increasing engagement throughout Downtown and getting people out and about enjoying the summer. We saw great success with our Winter Holiday Adventure, so we wanted to double down with even more fun for this summer’s program.”
The Discover Downtown: Summer Scavenger Hunt is in line with DLBA’s efforts to encourage activations throughout the Downtown all summer long. On top of the winners who will be awarded at the end of the two-month program, micro challenges and awards will also be offered throughout the two months.
“Programs like these – that capitalize on the energy and vibrancy of Downtown and encourage our new and longtime residents to rediscover Downtown and put place and small business front and center – are a part of what we’re focusing on here at DLBA,” said President and CEO Austin Metoyer. “We’re excited to see the submissions and dole out the prizes!”
The hunt is organized through a third-party scavenger hunt mobile application available in the Apple and Google app stores. The hunt opened June 21, and will close at 11:59 PM on August 20. To learn more about how to start earning points for the Summer Scavenger Hunt, visit the website here.
