Long Beach, CA (May 7, 2024)The Downtown Long Beach Alliance (DTLB Alliance) is thrilled to announce the return of the much-anticipated Taste of Downtown series, kicking off with the special “Sip, Shop, and Stroll” event this Saturday, May 11 at 12 PM. Celebrating its 15th anniversary, the Taste of Downtown summer food and beverage series has become a cherished local tradition by community members and visitors alike, showcasing the vibrant culture and community of Downtown Long Beach.

The first ever “Sip, Shop, and Stroll” invites attendees to indulge in a day filled with culinary delights, beverages and local shopping. Located in the scenic Historic East Village Arts District, this event will pair local retailers with food and beverage businesses, offering a unique blend of tasting and shopping experiences. With live music and engaging activities, the neighborhood will be buzzing with energy and excitement.

“Taste of Downtown is not only a showcase of our local culinary and retail gems but also a celebration of our community’s spirit and resilience,” said Austin Metoyer, President and CEO of the DTLB Alliance. “This summer is particularly exciting as we welcome the completion of two new residential buildings – the Inkwell on the Promenade and the Aster on Broadway and Long Beach Blvd – and the soon-to-open luxury hotel, Fairmont Breakers. The Taste of Downtown offers a perfect opportunity for both locals and visitors to rediscover and fall in love with Downtown Long Beach all over again.”

Unlike traditional Taste of Downtown events, attendees will receive an all-access wristband and a souvenir cup, allowing for unlimited sips and bites throughout the program. The event pricing is as follows: Kids 10 and under are free, ages 11-20 (or those not drinking alcohol) are $30, and ages 21+ are $50.

Following “Sip, Shop, and Stroll,” the Taste of Downtown series will continue with:

  • Taste of Downtown: Pine & Promenade will take place on June 12 and 13, featuring a planned street closure for an immersive urban experience.
  • Taste of Downtown: Waterfront will take place on August 14 and 15, set against the stunning backdrop of the Downtown Long Beach Waterfront and Shoreline Village.

The June and August events will follow the traditional ticketing process. $1 will equal 1 ticket, and each vendor will determine their pricing per offering. Only the Saturday, May 11 event will be one price per ticket for unlimited offerings, while supplies last.

Last year, the Taste of Downtown series surpassed pre-pandemic attendance figures, and this year promises to be even more spectacular. We invite everyone to join us in making Downtown Long Beach the premier destination for summer events.
