1st Annual Garden Chef Competition

Sowing Seeds of Change is proud to announce our FIRST-ever *Garden Chef Competition* Fundraiser on March 25th, 4-7pm! Through our agricultural-based programming, our students have learned about growing, nurturing, harvesting and vending fresh local food. During the Garden Chef Competition, our students will take their work to the next level by working alongside 5 local chefs for an electric night of culinary competition at the Sowing Seeds of Change Urban Farm. The audience will enjoy a 5 course meal and vote for their favorite recipe!

The Garden Chef Competition supports Sowing Seeds of Change’s commitment to empowering participants to actively engage in a local food system that encourages healthy living, nurtures the environment, and grows a sustainable community.

Aside from this event, Sowing Seeds of Change’s programs include providing free access to fresh organic produce, facilitating youth leadership and entrepreneurialism in health and nutrition education, and connecting urban communities to workshops and classes, farm stands, and markets that promote sustainable agriculture.

Recently, the co-founders of the nonprofit, Dina Feldman and Lindsay Smith, led a group of volunteers from Leadership Long Beach and the community on MLK Day of Service. The group focused on building a greenhouse and outdoor kitchen to provide gardening vocational training to people with disabilities.

Come out and show your support to our students and local chefs as they put their skills to the test and show us their culinary ingenuity! Our community is invited to join in on the fun and sample the creations to then cast their vote to crown the winning team. Tickets for the Garden Chef Competition are available for purchase.
