One of Downtown Long Beach Alliance’s (DLBA) goals is to be a clearinghouse of information for the entire Downtown community, from collecting valuable data and details on many aspects of DTLB to guide resource allocation, entice prospective business and development, and appropriately inform city leadership. In addition to DLBA’s efforts of tracking new businesses, lease/purchase opportunities, return on investment from special events, and more, DLBA’s Clean and Safe Teams also capture information from the most fundamental (e.g. pounds of weeds collected) to the most critical, such as the number of homeless individuals referred to one of Long Beach’s service providers by our Homeless Outreach Specialist. In fact, on a daily basis, DTLB stakeholders may observe members of DLBA’s Clean and Safe team pausing briefly to enter data into their smartphones.
Information such as pounds of trash collected, directions given, graffiti or stickers removed, and friendly safety escorts requested is tracked monthly, enabling DLBA to more effectively deploy Clean and Safe team members based on evolving trends and seasonal changes in service needs. In addition, the data is used to evaluate program and team performance.
DLBA will continue to track and share this type of information with its community and city partners in an effort to cultivate, preserve and promote a healthy, safe, and prosperous Downtown.
