On Tuesday, October 30th, the DLBA and City of Long Beach hosted an informational community meeting regarding the 3rd Street and Broadway Streetscape Project. If you’ve recently traveled through 3rd Street or Broadway, you’ll have noticed construction efforts in progress. The project encompasses resurfacing and reconfiguration of 3rd Street and Broadway from Golden Avenue to Alamitos Avenue to create a more pedestrian and bike-friendly streetscape.
Improvements include relocation of protected bike lanes to the right side of the street to allow for better connections to existing and future bicycle facilities, as well as increased safety, street resurfacing, continental crosswalks, tree trimming, sidewalk, curb and gutter repairs. The project also includes construction of new bus islands and ADA upgrades to sidewalks and curb ramps. The project is expected to be completed in January of 2019.
Businesses WILL BE OPEN during construction and greatly appreciate your continued business. The construction team has met with over 40 businesses along the project corridor and will continue to work with businesses through the duration of the project to ensure impacts are minimized as best as possible. If you are a businesses owner or resident and would like to speak with a project team representative, please call the 3rd Street and Broadway Project Hotline at (562) 463-4465. For those who want to stay in the know as the project proceeds, DLBA will be sharing information at www.downtownlongbeach.org/construction, as well as offering text alerts by texting construction to 99000.
