The holiday shopping season is upon us, and Downtown Long Beach merchants are eagerly awaiting a visit from you. Parking in Downtown can seem daunting at times, but there are many convenient options available to help make your shopping experience easy and enjoyable.
The quickest and most comprehensive way to scope the Downtown parking scene is to check in with the Parkopedia app, which provides a complete real-time overview of Downtown parking lots — where they’re located, how much you’ll pay, and how many spots are available. The app covers every corner of Downtown, so you’ll know exactly what the parking situation is near your desired destination. It’s a great way to maximize your shopping by avoiding a time-consuming parking safari.
Another app, Passport Parking, allows one to pay for parking (and add additional time) by phone in participating City-run lots. Passport Parking is now available through the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store.
SpotAngels is a Downtown parking assistance app which provides a list of the many FREE parking lots in and near Downtown.
The City operates several parking lots in Downtown:
- City Place Lot A at 50 West 6th Street
- Lot B at 50 East 5th Street
- Lot C at 50 East 3rd Street
- Civic Center Garage at 332 West Broadway
These lots are open 24 hours a day. Parking is available from 7am to 2am in an additional City lot at 100 West Broadway. Cash, VISA, and Mastercard are accepted at all of these. IMPORTANT NOTE: Lots A, B, and C offer free two-hour parking!
For those who prefer metered parking on the street, rates vary in Downtown from one to two dollars an hour for a maximum stay of two hours. You can pay at the meter (or at a nearby Pay Station in some locations) through the traditional coin method and also by Mastercard and VISA, and the Passport Parking app. These “smart meters” are located throughout Downtown. Be aware that some of them take Sundays off.
