The Downtown Long Beach Alliance (DLBA) would like to introduce you to new Board Member Monica Garrett, who also serves as Chair of the Marketing and Communications Committee. As Founder and CEO of her own Downtown digital marketing company, Garrett brings a wealth of experience to her new role.
Garrett was born in the desert community of Ridgecrest, California. After her family moved to Long Beach, she attended Jefferson Middle School before her family moved again, this time to South Carolina, where she lived until she began her post-high school education at Flagler College in Florida. In her sophomore year, she transferred to the University of South Carolina.
Her desire to return to California was strong, so she moved back to attend Cypress College and Long Beach City College, finishing her education at California State University, Long Beach.
“My love for Long Beach has only grown over the years and I knew I wanted to have a business here,” said Garrett. “My first business was on the corner of Fourth Street and Termino Avenue. When I closed that business I knew I wanted to open a new office for my latest venture in Downtown. I love the vibe and the architecture, and I want to be a part of history in making it thrive again with visitors and businesses. Now we are located just off Third Street and The Promenade, and we love the location.”
Her company, Margaux Agency LLC, named after her daughter, Gianna Margaux, has been focused on digital marketing for fitness and wellness brands since 2015, offering a variety of services such as strategy and digital & social media marketing.
In addition to managing the daily operations and development of her own company, Garrett will be serving the DLBA Board by connecting with other Downtown influencers. “I hope to contribute and have great conversations with some of the most involved people looking to grow Downtown,” Garrett said. “During my time on the Board, I hope to create memorable and impactful experiences with them.”
When she’s not working in her Downtown office, Garrett enjoys painting, reading, and studying Spanish. “While these are mostly independent hobbies,” she said, “I also love spending time with my family and encouraging my daughter to explore nature and creativity.”
