The Long Beach Terrace Theater has been welcoming audiences since 1978. It seats over 3,000 yet creates a sense of comfort and intimacy, whether you’re seriously engrossed in a classical offering by the Long Beach Symphony Orchestra (LBSO) or laughing uproariously at a world-class comedian!

The theater is closing out 2024 and heading into 2025 with a typically diverse and high-quality entertainment schedule — including a celebration of the LBSO’s 90th Anniversary! Get your fall and winter fashion statements together and prepare to mingle by the kinetic illuminated fountains and fire pits in the plaza or inside the three-story glassed-in lobby, discussing the night’s fun with your fellow attendees. Here are some of the many upcoming Terrace Theater shows.

 

BROADWAY AT THE BEACH

Tickets are on sale now for this series, which features four fan-favorite blockbuster shows! Broadway At The Beach starts off brilliantly this weekend with The Cher Show, the Tony Award-winning musical about the life of a true cultural icon. Shows this Saturday, Sept. 14 begin at 2 and 9 PM; The curtain rises on Sunday’s show at 1 PM. Next, the Terrace Theater will host Come From Away, a musical with a distinctly different tone; It’s the true story of a small town in Newfoundland that took in 7,000 stranded travelers in the week following 9/11. See this stirring musical on Tuesday and Wednesday, Nov. 19 and 20, starting at 7:30 PM.

The Book Of Mormon is the next musical in the series. Hilarious and a bit edgy, this nine-time Tony-winning show has been hailed as one of the greatest musicals of all time! See it Tuesday, Feb. 4 or Wednesday, Feb. 5 with start times at 7:30 PM. The series winds up in spectacular fashion with Champions Of Magic. If you want to see grand-scale, mind-blowing illusions delivered by a magic team with style and showmanship, this show is for you! A NEW WORLD — CELEBRATING LONG BEACH SYMPHONY’S 90TH ANNIVERSARY

The first piece the LBSO ever played in public was Beethoven’s Egmont Overture. Ninety years later, the LBSO will open its gala anniversary show with it on Saturday, Oct. 5! The piece leads off a program which includes the west coast premiere of the versatile and in-demand composer Anna Clyne’s Quarter Days, a four-movement composition for string quartet and orchestra. Doors open at 6 PM, giving you plenty of time to enjoy the Terrace Theater’s dazzling ambiance, a live music ensemble performing in the lobby, and a Pre-Concert Talk at 6:30! SWAN LAKE

If you’ve never seen the ballet classic Swan Lake, this exquisite production will be the perfect introduction to it. See the finest dancers from all over the world perform Tchaikovsky’s masterpiece at the Terrace Theater on Sunday, Oct. 13 at 7 PM. The talent, costumes, and scenery on display will take your breath away. Doors open at 6 PM, giving you plenty of time to arrive early and dine at one of the many food trucks, sip a cocktail, and snap your pix in one of the most photogenic settings on the west coast! TREVOR NOAH, PRESENTED BY DISTINGUISHED SPEAKER SERIES

Comedian Trevor Noah, whose career journey has taken him from apartheid South Africa to the desk of The Daily Show and beyond, will share an evening of conversation at the Terrace Theater on Monday, Oct. 14 at 7:30 PM. Doors open at 6:30. Noah is the first guest in the six-event Distinguished Speaker Series, which runs through spring 2025 and will include such speakers as Dr. Sanjay Gupta and journalist Emily Chang. PATTI LABELLE

The soaring sounds of legendary vocalist Patti LaBelle will help usher in the holiday season at the Terrace Theater on Sunday, Nov. 17 at 8 PM. LaBelle is in the midst of her “8065” Tour — Eighty years old, with 65 years excelling in the entertainment business. She’s an epic entertainer who will make you laugh, cry, and dance.
