Long Beach, CA (Feb. 28, 2025) – Downtown Long Beach is set to come alive with rhythm and movement with a new activation on The Promenade, Dance Downtown Revolution (DDR), a free, 13-week dance series and a play on the popular dance video game from the early 2000’s, Dance Dance Revolution. DDR will launch on Tuesday, March 4, at Mosaic (300 The Promenade N.) and will continue every Tuesday through the end of May. Open to all skill levels, this vibrant new program brings a diverse lineup of instructors, dance styles, and high-energy lessons to the heart of the city.

“Dance Downtown Revolution is about creating movement—both literally and figuratively—in our community,” said Austin Metoyer, President & CEO of the Downtown Long Beach Alliance (DTLB Alliance). “We’re thrilled to transform The Promenade each week into a space where people can come together, express themselves, and experience the joy of dance. Whether you’re a seasoned dancer or just looking to try something new, there’s something for everyone.”

The series begins with Voguing, led by renowned instructor Destiny Grey and House of Long Beach. Participants will learn the iconic, expressive movements of this celebrated dance style—no experience needed, just bring curiosity, confidence and energy!

Each week, DDR will feature a new instructor and style, showcasing dance traditions from around the world. On March 11, attendees can experience the grace and artistic storytelling of Cambodian Classical Dance, taught by Dawnsavann Phom.

From salsa to hip-hop, contemporary to cultural dance, through Dance Downtown Revolution the DTLB Alliance is excited to bring free, professional dance instruction to the streets of Downtown.

Instructors interested in leading a session are still encouraged to apply here, with opportunities to earn up to $500 per session. DDR is committed to celebrating diverse dance forms and welcomes applications from artists across all styles.

Attendees are encouraged to RSVP here or follow DTLB Alliance on social media for weekly updates. Join us as we turn Downtown Long Beach into the city’s biggest dance floor—one step at a time.
