Maya-Animals’ Experience to celebrate the ‘Deer’ with a ‘Reindeer and Sleigh’ for the holidays on December 18
December 18, 2022 @ 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Hotel Maya presents its 12-month ‘Maya-Animals’ Experience program that highlights animals
whose characteristics the Mayans assigned to their deities during a Fuego Sunday Brunch
LONG BEACH, Calif., (December 01, 2022) –To celebrate the “Deer,” which is one of the Mayan animals most popular and powerful symbols in Mayan mythology and culture, Hotel Maya will feature a “Reindeer and Sleigh,” a real, live animal experience and holiday setting in the sculpture garden adjacent to Fuego for educational purposes and complimentary photos on Sunday, December 18 from 12-3 p.m.
In the Mayan culture, deer are considered a symbol of strong, stable, regal energy. The deer also covers the four levels of being physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. Earlier this year fragments of a mural showing a deer was found in Guatemala and is thought to be the earliest evidence of the Mayan ritual calendar dating back to 200-300 B.C.
In the spirit of honoring these powerful symbols of Mayan mythology and culture Hotel Maya has been featuring a different Mayan animal during Sunday brunch from 12-3 p.m. every month since January. This will be the final Maya-Animals event of 2022 so don’t miss out on the opportunity to get up close and personal with a live reindeer, which will create fun holiday memories for both kids and adults to enjoy.
“As we wrap-up the last Maya-Animals experience for 2022, it is most fitting to celebrate the deer in December with a live ‘Reindeer and Sleigh’ to ring-in the season with holiday cheer in Fuego,” said Greg Guthrie, General Manager at Hotel Maya – a DoubleTree by Hilton. “The ’Maya-Animals’ Experience program has been a very unique way to share Mayan culture with our guests and team members each month. We are grateful to everyone who visited throughout the year and made this Mayan program such a great success.”
