(LONG BEACH, CA – Sept. 4, 2024) The Downtown Long Beach Alliance (DTLB Alliance) is pleased to announce that the application process for its fall-winter season Community Events Microgrant Program is now open.
In an effort to empower local initiatives and attract and support the creation of live events in Downtown Long Beach, the Community Events Microgrant Program offers five $1,000 grants for individuals, groups, businesses, neighborhood associations, and nonprofits who want to hold community events in Downtown.
“We are thrilled to announce that applications for the Community Events Microgrant Program are now open, and we encourage everyone to take advantage of this opportunity,” said Justine Nevarez, DTLB Alliance Community Outreach & Events Manager. “Our goal is to not only raise awareness about this valuable resource but also to continue supporting the vibrant and diverse community of Downtown Long Beach. Last year’s microgrant recipients brought incredible events to life, and we can’t wait to see what creative ideas the community will bring forward this year.”
Nevarez and DTLB Alliance’s Special Events and Sponsorships Committee launched the revamped application process in April 2023—the program’s first major update since it was implemented in 2012—with a focus on supporting events that align with the principles of the organization’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) initiative. This next round of microgrant funding seeks to build on that progress.
The application process is now open for events taking place between Oct. 1, 2024 and March 31, 2025. Community Events Microgrant applicants are encouraged to review DTLB Alliance’s service area boundaries to make sure their proposed event will take place within them. Five $1,000 grants will be awarded. For complete application guidelines and to apply, please click here. The deadline to submit is Sunday, Sept. 22, 2024.
