International City Theatre’s Free Family Saturday: Proud to Be Me

International City Theatre’s Free Family Saturday program provides an introduction to live theatre for children and their families. Through each performance, young people learn essential lessons on tolerance and inclusion, self-esteem, multiculturalism, history, and great works of literature. Geared towards younger children ages 12 and under, but not exclusive of older children, Free Family Saturday creates equity and expands access to theatre for families in Long Beach by removing financial barriers to the arts. Taking place on select Saturday mornings at The Beverly O’Neill Theater, this program allows children and their families to gain an appreciation for theatre, and experience an art form that contributes to the personal development of young people, and can open new career paths for them as they move through their education.
