Long Beach Calling: A group art show of skateboard artists and anti-heroes
July 1, 2023 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
“LONG BEACH CALLING,” a Group Show of paintings and “weatherboard” skateboard sculptures by ‘Us Los Angeles’ artists, curated by Steve Saiz, opens at Loiter Galleries this Saturday.
‘Us Los Angeles’ is a group of artists/skateboarders who live and create in LA and Long Beach. These artists share the common bond of skateboarding combined with a dynamic energetic artistry. This show highlights the vi-brant culture of skateboarding in acrylics and oils. Their maiden showing was in Glendale, CA, at G-Son Studios, the old Beastie Boys stomping ground.
Steve Saiz is a pro-skateboarder and life-long Long Beach resident. A mem-ber of the world renowned Bones Brigade, Steve channeled his passion for skateboarding into art. His murals can be seen on the walls of the Hunting-ton Beach Starbucks and on the famous Venice Beach Boardwalk. Steve has created his own stylized drawing and painting style, a vibrant punch of di-mension, color, and chaos. He is also known for his unique “Weatherboard” sculptures, a tribute to his Comanche heritage.
“Long Beach Calling” opens on Saturday, July 1st 6 PM – 9 PM at Loiter Gal-leries in Downtown Long Beach. It will run through Saturday August 5th. Loiter Galleries’ hours are Thursday – Saturday, 5-8 PM; and Sunday, 1-4 PM.
