Loiter Galleries’ Grand Re-Opening
June 26, 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
In a fitting return to “business as usual,” Loiter Galleries in Long Beach is opening its doors for the first time, post-pandemic, with the exhibition called “Coming into Focus.”
Curated by Joe Davidson of the art collective Durden and Ray, this show represents the blurred lines that occur between our thoughts. It encompasses works that range from the abstract to representational and all the fuzzy areas in between these two schools.
The works come in a variety of mediums, from paintings to mixed mediums to sculptures. Artists work with acrylics, oils, tinted plaster, and cast tinted aqua resin. While this exhibition may at first appear abstract, upon closer examination we see objects and figures that may first seem obscured. Hence, the show title “coming into focus.”
Durden and Ray artists include painters Jenny Hager and Carlos Beltran Arechiga; mixed media artists Alexandria Wiesenfeld, Hagop Najarian, and Tom Dunn; and sculptors Valerie Wilcox and Joe Davidson.
This is also Loiter Galleries’ first show with a sponsor, Anheuser Busch/Stella Artois. Doors open on Thursday, June 26th. The show will close on July 31st. Hours are Thursday-Sunday, 7 pm to 10 pm.
Loiter Galleries is a non-profit organization, so donations are gratefully accepted via our website: LoiterGalleries.com. As always, Loiter’s objective is to support local artists via pop-up galleries. These galleries make use of otherwise empty space and increase foot traffic for local businesses and local arts districts.
