DTLB Design District – 10 Degrees Cooler
August 30 - October 12
Poster call for local designers and creatives! In Southern California, they say it’s always 10 degrees cooler by the beach, and Long Beach takes that to heart. It’s not just the temperature—though it is a refreshing 10 degrees cooler here than the sizzling streets of LA—it’s also the vibe. People escape LA’s heat for our breezy shores, but they stay for the laid-back, authentic atmosphere. Whether you’re hanging out in the East Village Arts District or exploring the up-and-coming DTLB Design District, we invite you to come chill with us and see why Long Beach is the ultimate cool spot.Topic: Why the “10 Degrees Cooler” Poster Campaign
Downtown Long Beach is embarking on a design revolution by creating its very own Design District. Led by the urban design and architecture studio Studio One Eleven, this district aims to be a dynamic hub for inclusivity, accessibility, economic impact and collaboration among artists, designers, and businesses. To kick off this initiative we invite participation in the “10 Degrees Cooler” campaign, a poster design competition that invites graphic designers from around the city to visually interpret and speculate on the district’s unique vibe. The winning posters will be displayed throughout the district drawing attention to the area while defining its distinctive point of view, look, and feel. The campaign will not only highlight the district’s inviting atmosphere but also engage the community and visitors, showcasing the district’s commitment to creativity and inclusivity. By integrating local perspectives, the “10 Degrees Cooler” posters will contribute to the district’s identity as an economic and cultural landmark. Through this vibrant display, the DTLB Design District aims to inspire future talent and foster a creative environment where innovation and community thrive. Jury panel TBA Timeline
