Dia de los Muertos
November 5, 2022 @ 12:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Long Beach, CA – The City of Long Beach and Office of First District Councilwoman Mary Zendejas proudly present the seventh annual Día de Los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, Celebration – a free, family-friendly celebration of life in remembrance of loved ones who have died. Families and friends are invited to take part in the day’s activities on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2022, from noon to 10 p.m. in the downtown shoreline area.
“Día de Los Muertos is a day to honor our family and friends who have passed away,” said Mayor Robert Garcia. “Our City celebration proudly reflects these longstanding traditions and celebrates the rich culture of our diverse Latino community.”
On Nov. 5, Rainbow Lagoon, located on Shoreline Drive between Linden Avenue and Shoreline Village Drive, will transform into a spectacular celebration and street extravaganza with breathtaking arts and crafts, dance, world-class music and entertainment, and food and beverage offerings. In conjunction with the day of celebration and remembrance, a festive parade will work its way through the area.
“Our Día de Los Muertos Celebration is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate life, family and tradition,” said Councilwoman Mary Zendejas. “I look forward to this year’s celebration taking place along our beautiful shoreline.”
Día de Los Muertos is deeply rooted in the traditions and cultures of the indigenous communities of Mexico and Latin America. As family, friends and neighbors continue those traditions in ways that are most meaningful in their lives, the City encourages the entire community to also come together for this grand celebration in downtown Long Beach.
Details regarding the performance schedule and other event elements will be provided at a later date. Updates will become available at longbeach.gov/diadelosmuertos.
