On Saturday afternoon, March 21, the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day lingered on The Promenade, kept alive by the third monthly installment of DTLB Live!
From the green beer and cucumber margaritas served outside in the EZ Sip Zone to the sounds of Irish band The Bell Boys, there were plenty of St. Patrick’s Day vibes for the many revelers to love.
This successful March edition gives DTLB Live! a solid three-for-three status; February’s event featuring the salsa band Azucar L.A. attracted a great crowd, and January’s Big Butter Jazz Band got this new monthly event off to a swingin’ start.

“We’re excited for the DTLB Live! series. It’s exactly the kind of event we love to see Downtown,” said Christy Caldwell, Operating Partner of participating business The Ordinarie Tavern. “It brings back the vibes from previous well-loved events like Live After 5 and Buskerfest. It’s energizing The Promenade and reminding Long Beach just how good our Downtown really is. The Ordinarie is proud to be a partner in this, and we hope it keeps going strong for a long time.”
In a poll of attendees taken by Rodrigo Rodarte, the DTLB Alliance’s new Senior Placemaking & Activations Manager, live music was voted the favorite feature of DTLB Live! events. The tunes will continue next month during Grand Prix weekend when the Bread & Butter jazz band takes the stage.

“Due to the Grand Prix, April’s DTLB Live! will not be an EZ Sip event, making it a very rare exception,” Rodarte explained. “Our event will be Grand Prix-themed. Visitors of all ages can look forward to building little cars and racing them down a track! The music will be perfect to relax with after a long day on the Grand Prix course. Bread & Butter singer Paul Munoz is very engaging.”
DTLB Live! events after April have been approved for EZ Sip status. “EZ Sip encourages people to stay longer,” said Rodarte. “Also, consistency is important with events like this. People feel good about an event when they know it’s recurring.” Rodarte mentioned a summer sing-along, a blues-focused revue, and a June PRIDE tie-in among upcoming shows.

“We’re getting a new audience for our food, atmosphere, and world-class beer,” said Andrew Carroll, General Manager of participating Downtown drinkery ISM Brewing. “The DTLB Live! events are amazing reminders to community members of all the great things Downtown has to offer.”
