Six community-members, ranging from property owners to residents, have been selected from a record number of applicants by the Downtown Long Beach Alliance’s Governance Committee to be part of the Board of Directors slate for FY 2019-20.

The DLBA administers two improvement districts (business and property) that covers more than 150-square blocks of the Downtown core and surrounding communities, which represent nearly 5,000 stakeholders. Between the DLBA Board of Directors and its various committees, over 70 DTLB stakeholders volunteer their time to improve the urban center’s community. The direct inclusion of members from the diverse constituencies of Downtown Long Beach permits the DLBA to better serve interests, address current issues and implement future solutions.

DLBA reached out to the Downtown community on March 8, soliciting nominations for available board positions and interest in programming committees. In late May, a diverse pool of thirty-five applicants interviewed with the Governance Committee.

DLBA recently sent postcards out to all stakeholders of the property-based improvement district (PBID) and downtown parking improvement area (DPIA), giving them the information needed to vote on the slate proposed for the 2019-2020 DLBA Board of Directors. The candidates up for approval represent specific districts within the DPIA: Waterfront, East Village and Pine/Promenade. By voting, you are either approving or disapproving of the entire slate of candidates that was comprised by the current DLBA Board to fill vacancies that will occur for the next fiscal year. THE DEADLINE TO VOTE IS JULY 17 AT 11:45 PM. We hope you will take time to participate because as a stakeholder, these candidates will represent your voice on the DLBA Board.
