There’s nothing quite like the look of delight on a child’s face during the holidays. When kids unwrap a new toy, they’re opening up entire worlds of fun and imagination!
You can make it much easier for local children and families in need to share the joy of holiday gift giving. Read up on these Downtown toy drives and see how easy it is to donate new, unwrapped toys in person. You can also participate by purchasing toys or providing cash donations online.
CHRISTIAN OUTREACH IN ACTION TOY DRIVE
From now through this Saturday, Dec. 6, Christian Outreach in Action (COA) is offering several ways to give toys and holiday joys!
You can drop off new, unwrapped toys at COA, 515 E 3rd St. and/or host your own toy drive at your work, school or business. Place a donation box in a spot where everyone can see it, then drop off the filled box at COA by Saturday, Dec. 6. Call 562-432-1440 for more details. Shop from COA’s Amazon Wish List. Your gift will be shipped directly to COA, or donate funds online and let COA do the shopping for you.
DOWNTOWN RUNNERS & ALLEY CAT DELIVERIES TOY DRIVE 5K
Save Wednesday, Dec.10 for an evening of toy giving, brisk exercise (or any pace you choose), and holiday partying! The Edison Theatre at 213 E Broadway will be the home base for all the fun from 6 to 9 PM.
You are highly encouraged to bring new, unwrapped toys to this free 5K run and post-run party. All donated toys will be given to local charitable organizations. DJ J. Midnight will provide the post-5K vibes, Sol Wellness will be giving mini-massages, and Alyssa Belanio will draw your portrait. Each toy donation enters you in a raffle for various prizes. Running not required!
JOYFUL IMPACT TOY DRIVE & FUNDRAISER
National nonprofit Affluent Hispanic Philanthropies is proud to present the fourth annual edition of this toy drive, which is dedicated to raising the spirits of Long Beach’s vulnerable children and families.
It happens Thursday, Dec. 11 from 6 to 10 PM at the fabulous seafood and sushi restaurant El Viejon, 201 E Broadway. Toys will be collected, and a portion of the evening’s sales will support the local Joyful Impact Toy Drive. This charitable event is sponsored by the Port of Long Beach.
Join Touch’d Hair Studio in helping make the holiday season brighter for local children and families in need! The salon at 137 W 5th St. is accepting new, unwrapped toys from now through Saturday, Dec. 20. All donations stay in Long Beach.
