The Pacific Island Ethnic Art Museum (PIEAM) Presents

The Pacific Island Ethnic Art Museum (PIEAM) presents Carrying the Pacific: Pregnancy, Birth, and Parenthood on view from Saturday, July 20, 2019 to Wednesday, December 31, 2019. This exhibit is the first of its kind that centers on Pacific Islanders’ birthing traditions, experiences and voices. Visitors will hear from culture-bearers, and see works by Pacific Islander contemporary artists Roldy Aguero, Micki Davis, Dan Taulapapa McMullin, Jason (JP) Periera, Samantha Winter Tagaloa, Lilo Tauvae, and Roquin-Jon Quichocho Siongco. Ethnographic art from PIEAM’s permanent collection will be interwoven to highlight connections with Pacific Islanders’ ancestors. The exhibit also includes the film Vanuatu Women’s Water Music, which will be showing in the media room.

The Art of Bloom

“The Art of Bloom explores how humans and nature coexist.”

Long Beach’s first immersive pop-up exhibit, The Art of Bloom, focuses on the special relationship between humans and nature. With real flowers, light, and AR interactions that blend both the physical and digital, The Art of Bloom gives you the opportunity to connect with nature in an elevated environment. Through this multi-sensory installation, showers of flower petals, light, aroma, and sound will awaken your senses and create a meditative space to connect to a deeper state of mind. In this idyllic world, you are free to roam and explore without being bound by words.

About The Art of Bloom:

The Art of Bloom takes you through the intoxicating power of flowers in communicating emotions, signaling change and evolution, ushering reconciliation and human connection. Housed in the historic Edison Theatre, The Art of Bloom allows one to leave reality behind to discover the raw emotion that colorful blooms can elicit. This is not your traditional pop-up. Come ready to explore, reflect, and completely submerge yourself in The Art of Bloom.

The Museum of Latin American Art (MOLAA) Presents

The Museum of Latin American Art (MOLAA) presents Memento: An Anthological Exhibition on display from Sunday, September 15, 2019 through Sunday, January 26, 2020.

Tomás Ochoa (Ecuador, b. 1969) is a South American artist whose work challenges established historical narratives. Since 2016, Ochoa has lived and worked in Colombia and studied the legacy of colonialism through economic development and political events. His images capture their effects on the local landscape and the experiences of the country’s most vulnerable inhabitants.

Antología Memento (Memento Anthology) presents sixteen large panels that depict Colombia’s landscape, architecture, and peoples. Ochoa rewrites Latin American history by highlighting the events that have literally shaped the jungles and buildings of the country. The works become an illustrated and updated timeline that joins Colombia’s present reality with its hidden past.

Wednesday, Friday through Sunday: 11:00am – 5:00pm
Thursday: 11:00am – 9:00pm

General admission is priced at $10. For more information, visit MOLAA’s website at or call (562) 437-1689.
