Following our preview of the Edison lofts development at Long Beach Blvd. at 1st Street last year and a temporary opening, we’ve been anticipating the structure’s formal re-opening as it brings hundreds of new residential units to DTLB. Now, with floor plans and leasing options released, the Edison is set to open its doors on a grand opening Thursday, November 10, from 6PM to 9PM.

Prices range from studios begin at $1,830/mo while 2-story, 2-bedroom penthouses begin at $5,450/mo. There are 6 studio layouts, 14 1-bedroom layouts, and 16 2-bedroom layouts. Those interested in more information about leasing can click here.

The famed building sitting between 1st & Broadway at Long Beach Blvd. was built in 1959 and designed by Kenneth Wing’s firm, under the design of then-budding architect and mid-mod master Edward Killingsworth. It was vacant for nearly a decade (2005 to 2013) before it officially closed escrow following the sale of the property by the city to developers Ratkovich Properties for $2.1M.

The luxury complex is capped with six, two-story penthouses sit on the rooftop, with some providing what could easily be argued as the best view of Long Beach. The two north-facing penthouses have unobstructed views of Downtown, Signal Hill, the CSULB Pyramid, and the mountains of Angeles and San Bernardino National Forests.
