Shop Small Saturday in DTLB on Nov. 29 is more than just a day to keep your post-Thanksgiving shopping momentum going. It’s a celebration of the independently-owned small businesses which are the heartbeat of Downtown’s neighborhoods!

“Shopping small fosters community,” said Christina Peralta, owner of Ethikli, the sustainable market at 352 E 4th St. in the East Village. “In our case, a dollar spent at Ethikli supports a small worker-owned business whose goal is build a better food system, reduce environmental impact, and provide a valuable resource to our Long Beach neighbors.”

Up on North Pine at 737 Pine Ave., Long Beach Vintage Etc. owner Elizabeth Kobliha explained that Shop Small Saturday gives independent shops a spotlight of our own. People really do want one-of-a-kind gifts, things with personality and a backstory. I believe that people want a break from big-box stores and fast fashion. Vintage pieces are clearly sustainable and special.”

Tommy Kerns, owner of the premium menswear shop Butterscotch LBC at 132 Linden Ave., chimed in: “We’re located in one of the best-looking retail corridors in the city, with its amazing architecture and history. That’s a great reason to park your car, walk around, grab a coffee, and enjoy your Shop Small experience.”
