The Downtown Long Beach Alliance is encouraging consumers to shop local as a part of Small Business Saturday on November 26th featuring free on street metered parking, shopping specials, a Holiday Gift Guide, and a Makers Mart. Dedicated to supporting local jobs and boosting the economy, Small Business Saturday is in its seventh year and is projected to generate at least $17.8 billion in spending nationwide this year.

The Makers Mart is returning for the third consecutive year to Downtown’s East Village Arts District. As a curated market, Makers Mart will have more than 30 local artisans and makers selling along 1st Street between Linden and Elm Avenues from 11AM to 5PM on November 26. The street will be closed to traffic so shoppers can explore the booths and enjoy live music while surrounding businesses offer specials on gift items.

In addition to the Makers Mart, retailers throughout DTLB will offer specials in honor of Small Business Saturday and holiday shoppers can consult the DLBA’s Holiday Gift Guide, which features more than 65 businesses, to discover perfect gift for even the pickiest person on their list.

“Our unique, independently owned retail stores play a major role in setting Downtown Long Beach apart as a shopping destination,” said Kraig Kojian, President and CEO of the DLBA. “Downtown has become home to 40 new retail businesses this year; it’s clearer than ever that entrepreneurial creativity is thriving in Long Beach.”

To make it even easier for shoppers throughout the Southland to shop in DTLB, the DLBA has also partnered with the City of Long Beach to provide free two-hour parking on street metered locations north of Seaside Way in Downtown on Saturday, November 26.

Social media mavens who shop small should use the hashtag #ShopSmallDTLB throughout the Holiday Season.
