The Downtown Long Beach community has always been a supportive one. When one part of the community is hurting, others stand up to help out. Since the COVID-19 outbreak began, we have seen more and more businesses and individuals stepping up to lend a helping hand, and we are working to bring you those uplifting stories in the days to come. For inspiration, here are a few recent heartwarming stories of community members lending a helping hand:
- George’s Greek Cafe has been giving back to the community by delivering free or discounted food to the elderly, disabled, and those in need.
- Café Sevilla has temporarily closed its doors to the public and has been donating available food to local organizations. They have already helped provide food to the Long Beach Ronald McDonald House and the WomenShelter of Long Beach.
- Loose Leaf Boba Company has been providing free bagged lunches to children missing out on school lunches and individuals hurting from COVID-19 lay-offs.
- The Pike Outlets recently provided meals from its eateries to first responders in the Long Beach Fire Department and those working at Dignity Health St. Mary Medical Center.
