Long Beach Mayor, Robert Garcia will deliver his annual State of the City address on Tuesday, January 10.

The mayor will give his speech at 6PM with a reception starting at 5PM at the Terrace Theater. The event is free to attend (with free parking as well), but RSVP is required.

This marks the mayor’s third State of the City address, and he’s expected to lay out his plans for the coming year and to review achievements from 2016. Garcia previewed some of this year’s talking points in a series of tweets; so expect to hear about new climate goals, public safety announcements, housing challenges, infrastructure news, as well as civil rights.

The speech comes right on the heels of some major announcements including the launch of the Long Beach Mayor’s Fund for Education and the election of Garcia to the Los Angeles Metro Board, where he will oversee the Gateway Cities Region.

In last year’s speech, Garcia endorsed a proposal to raise the city’s minimum wage to $13 an hour, declared an end to chronic veteran homelessness within city limits and called for reversing recent years’ budget cuts to the city’s police and fire departments.
