LONG BEACH, CA [March 24, 2026] — Downtown Long Beach will shine in a bold new way with the unveiling of “Long Beach Lights,” an innovative lighting installation designed by People’s Architecture Office and Jennifer Tran Studio. Commissioned by the Downtown Long Beach Alliance (DTLB Alliance) and the Downtown Difference, this dynamic public artwork aims to transform the downtown experience by bringing vibrant light, creativity, and energy to the Promenade.

The temporary installation reimagines public space through light, offering residents and visitors a fresh and engaging way to experience Downtown Long Beach (DTLB).

Saturday, April 11 during April’s DTLB Art + Design Walk

Where:
The Promenade between 1st Street and Broadway

  • 6-7 PM: Unveiling celebration
    • 6:30 PM: Artist remarks
    • 6:45 PM: Ribbon cutting ceremony
    • 7 PM: Official lighting moment, watch the lights come on

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Long Beach Lights” is designed to activate the downtown environment in a fun, immersive, and visually striking way. By blending art, architecture, and light, the installation enhances the cultural vibrancy of DTLB and invites the public to engage with the space after dark.

Jennifer Tran is a Long Beach–based artist whose work explores language, translation, and intergenerational narratives through collaborative, text-driven projects rooted in themes of migration, labor, and the meaning of everyday spaces.

People’s Architecture Office is a Long Beach-based design and research studio that creates socially driven, small-scale architectural interventions aimed at improving everyday urban life through adaptable, community-focused design.
