The DTLB Alliance is thrilled to invite you to Downtown’s first EZ Sip event, an open-container street event! The City Council recently gave the green light for the Downtown Long Beach Alliance (DTLB Alliance) to test outdoor drinking events in designated Entertainment Zones. The launch party for this year-long pilot program will happen Saturday, Aug. 2 from 2 to 6 PM on The Promenade between Broadway and 3rd Street.

“This pilot is about bringing people together and reenergizing our Downtown through safe, community-focused events,” said Austin Metoyer, President & CEO of the DTLB Alliance. “These EZ Sip events will also serve as a stepping stone as we learn best practices and prepare for global moments like the FIFA World Cup and 2028 Olympics, ensuring Downtown is ready to welcome the world.”

The free-to-enter, family-friendly event requires a government-issued ID for those old enough to enjoy an alcoholic beverage. They will receive an official EZ Sip cup from participating businesses Altar Society, El Viejon, The Ordinarie, ISM Brewing + Kitchen, and Dog Haus Biergarten. Attendees with drinks purchased from participating businesses are required to stay within the designated event zone and to dispose of their cups before leaving the area.

In addition to the al fresco beverages, you’ll love the amazing entertainment! Fuzzy’s Funk Factory, featuring members of local bands Delta Nove and Fishbone, will play throughout the entire event, alternating sets with DJ M. Aurelius. You’ll be dazzled by The Aerial Butterflies and their carnivalesque hula hooping, stilt walking, bubble blowing skills, and you’ll leave with your own spin art greeting card, courtesy of Fun4Events!

This promises to be a summer afternoon of great community vibes in a beer garden atmosphere. The Promenade is a perfect setting for this inaugural EZ Sip event. Be there on August 2 and help get this fun program underway!
