Clean Team Member Kristopher Feo and Safe Team Captain Rudy Davila got loud cheers and applause from their colleagues as they received their Employee of the Quarter certificates on September 25 during an awards luncheon at The Ordinarie.
The Clean and Safe Teams, Block by Block administrative staff, and guests from the Downtown Long Beach (DTLB) Alliance had just finished a truly outstanding lunch and were ready to share some fun times and high morale in The Ordinarie’s comfy, art-filled ambiance.

Feo Accepting Award from Management
Feo, who has been with the Safe Team for two years, was the team’s go-to guy during the summer quarter, working special events, doing detailed pressure washing projects, and painting over graffiti. He’s known for his meticulousness and can-do attitude. For example, he made sure to precisely color-match the paint he used at the Pine Avenue 7-11 after it was hit hard by graffiti vandals recently.
“I’m really picky with whatever job I’m doing,” said Feo, who commutes from his Whittier home five, sometimes six days a week to add his exacting skills to the Clean Team.
He loves to play soccer and hang out with his wife and eight-month old baby son on days off. For Downtown lunch breaks, he mentioned The Dog Haus as a frequent visit.

Rudy Accepting an Award from Management
Safe Team Captain Rudy Davila is the middleman between the Clean and Safe Team and the Ops Team. All requests go through him on the call-for-service phone. He dispatches the Team and helps with its training. “He does everything,” said Sara Payne, Operations Manager for Block by Block, the company contracted by the DTLB Alliance to manage the Teams. “Even though Rudy has only been on our team for a little over a year, this award is long overdue.”
Davila crosses the bridge from nearby Harbor City to get to work six days a week. His 10-year background in the security business helps him provide a welcoming and steady presence for everyone he encounters in Downtown.
Like Feo, Davila loves to play soccer on his off days. He takes advantage of his proximity to the beach by going there often! He named Modica’s Deli on Ocean Blvd. as one of his favorite mid-shift meal stops.
“During the summer quarter, with all the events and everything else Downtown has to offer, the Clean and Safe Teams reached a new height and set a new standard for what the teams are,” said Payne. “This quarter’s honorees Kristopher Feo and Rudy Davila embody every aspect of that.”
