Mar 20, 2020: Governor Gavin Newsom has ordered California residents to stay at home except for necessary services or activities. If you leave your home, you are asked to practice social distancing of six feet between each person. Concurrently, Los Angeles County has prohibited public and private gatherings of 10 or more individuals.

The new statewide health order requires most businesses to close their doors. Those allowed to remain open are categorized as “critical infrastructure,” meaning that their closure would jeopardize the state’s economic security or public health and safety.

Per the state government, businesses that may remain open include gas stations, food service (restaurants, grocery stores, etc.), banks and laundromats. Restaurants may only offer takeout services and must close their dining rooms. Los Angeles County offers a more detailed list of businesses allowed to continue operations, with corresponding guidelines, here.
