The Downtown Long Beach Art + Design Walk is back on Saturday, February 8, 2025! Explore the vibrant creativity of DTLB with nearly 40 venues showcasing works from 80 talented artists in this quarterly celebration. From 2 to 7 PM, immerse yourself in an afternoon filled with visual art, interactive installations, live music, and pop-up exhibitions—a perfect way to experience the heart of Long Beach’s art scene!

Join us on Feb. 8 from 12 to 4 PM at the Promenade in DTLB for a vibrant celebration of African American history, culture, and achievements! This free, family-friendly event will feature a Vendor Marketplace, live performances, educational resource booths, cultural exhibits, wellness resources, and fun activities for all ages.

🏙 “What Do You Make in Long Beach?” A PARK(ing) Day-inspired Pop-Up ( MOSAIC at the Promenade North)

Stop by 4th Street (between Pine Avenue and Long Beach Blvd.) where a PARK(ing) Day-inspired pop-up will transform parking spaces into creative hubs, showcasing the diverse talent and craftsmanship of Long Beach. Artists, makers, and designers will engage visitors with live demonstrations and interactive displays celebrating the city’s rich culture of making.

🎷Brown The CousCous at Hellada Gallery (117 Linden Ave, Historic East Village)

Local Long Beach band, Brown The CousCous – Wayne Ulanski, recently released their new album, “Stratosphere”. Check it out here and listen in at Hellada Gallery while perusing the artwork on display.

The Dark Art Emporium presents FAMINE MOON, catch the opening night during DTLB Art + Design Walk from 5 to 9 PM.

👨‍🎓 “Practice & Pedagogy” at LBMA Downtown (356 E 3rd St)

The Long Beach Museum of Art Downtown is pleased to present the second iteration of Practice and Pedagogy, featuring a selection of works by the full-time studio art faculty in the Visual and Media Arts Department at Long Beach City College. In 2018, LBMA hosted the first iteration of Practice and Pedagogy at the newly acquired campus, LBMA Downtown. This sister exhibition seeks to showcase the rich and diverse studio practices within the LBCC faculty, along with the ideas that drive their work as both artists and educators.

💐BLOSSOM COMMUNITY by Muse Apothecary and Floral Workshop + “Shifting Tides” (3-6PM, 245 E 3rd St,)

Launch of “Community” Scent by Muse Apothecary (3-6PM) — Hosted at Studio One Eleven, experience the unveiling of a bespoke community scent inspired by the essence of Long Beach, crafted by Muse Apothecary with scent design by Kristin Flores. Visitors can also participate in a hands-on flower workshop by Minna Fleur creating personalized arrangements to take home.

Shifting Tides: Evolution of Long Beach’s Waterfront (3-6PM) — With concept and production design by Nathan Amondson, visitors can dive into Long Beach’s unique relationship with its waterfront through this compelling exhibition. Shifting Tides explores the city’s historical, current, and future connections to its coastline, offering visitors an immersive visual and narrative journey.

🍝 Folk Duo Mark+Pattie, Artist “Come to Mama” at Modica’s Deli (455 E Ocean Blvd, Long Beach)

Marc and Pattie Davidson have been performing music together for over 50 years as Marc+Pattie. They met in college, and as a folk duo were a fixture in the Houston coffee house/restaurant circuit as well as entertaining at family and friends’ events. As Marc explains, “this was the roots of a music partnership and lifelong relationship”. The roots of their music are founded in folk, country, pop, American Songbook, and a unique presentation of French music. Marc is a singer-songwriter and provides a unique repertoire of original music. Recent recordings can be streamed through Spotify, as well as downloaded from Apple Music, Amazon, and the many of the other popular platforms.

🥮 Bill Grisolia Band at Roscoe’s House of Chicken ‘n Waffles (730 East Broadway At Los, Alamitos Ave)

Bill Grisolia Band, Multiple Award winner, Entertainer of the Year, Living Legend (2X), Top 100 Bands USA (2X), and Male Vocalist of the Year, will perform at Roscoe’s!

2nd Saturday Art Walk in the East Village Arts District is back! Join us Saturday Feb. 8 where the whole block on 1st Street between Linden and Elm avenues will be hosting local artists curated by @artcloutlb. Check out Guetemalan artist Isa Viches‘ trippy colorful art who creates art in Procreate, as well as acrylic on stretched canvas.

🎧 DJ JASPERX at East Village Arts Park (150 Elm Ave)

Groove to the sounds of local DJ and Producer JasperX at the East Village Arts Park. Jasper Cordon is a Hip Hop DJ playing classic hip hop songs, scratching, mixing and juggling.

💇🏼‍♀️Envy Beauty Studio at BOLT Salon (12-5 PM, 126 Linden Ave)

Check out Envy Beauty Studio’s new digs at Bolt Salon and peruse the artworks of The Orange Door, Silent Moon and Beachie Besties during this Art + Design Walk pop-up.

Stop by the Brushstrokes + Beverages painting studio to hear Dru Ali Ruggeri aka DJ Hyphen Select produce deep beats and subscapes. A sonic alchemist with over 30 years of experience curating transformative musical journeys, DJ Hyphen Select is known for his ability to seamlessly blend genres, craft sets that transcend the ordinary, weaving deep bass, global rhythms, and ethereal melodies into immersive music.

🍷Adewale Agboke Jr. at District Wine (144 Linden Ave)

Wine and dine at district wine and check out the works of Adewale Agboke Jr., who is presenting their character designs and has their own original characters which are part of a comic book series.

🎨Richard Allen H at Maral Designs (105 Linden Ave)

Richard Allen H practices abstract art in mixed media, using acrylic, tempera, spray paint and gesso along with some stencils-created designs that move and have depth and life.

A solo show by Benjamin Frederick Art, “Paintings and Collages”, will be on view at Burke Mercantile for a closing reception.

🖌Alycia Shiann, N.A.$.A. at BYO Long Beach (431 E 1st St)

Alycia Shiann specializes in painting and colored pencil artwork that aims to show the connection between nature and humanity through vibrant colors, symbolism, and human experiences. N.A.$.A cuts and sews to create upcycled apparel and paintings.

🎨 Art Clout (425 E 1st St)

Art Clout brings local artists together for a pop-up gallery event! In partnership with the East Village Arts District, the Art Clout Art Show will take place from 4 to 8 PM.

🍄Culture Nights at Culture Shrooms (408 E 1st St #102)

Learn the multiple benefits of mushrooms while connecting and vibing with your neighbors at Culture Nights, every Friday and Saturday at Culture Shrooms, 7 PM to midnight. Christian Salcedo Ward’s artwork is about chasing the feeling of being present by going on walks and rides in his neighborhood and beyond.

🖼 Liza Macawili, Rene Puentes at Fitness Identity Training (256 Elm Ave)

Liza Macawili‘s artwork focuses on portraiture of their family, friends and people in the community. Macawili was raised in a Filipino household in a Black, Latina & Polynesian neighborhood and their pastel work reflects that. Macawili has a series called “Black Girl Magic” that they’re excited to show. Rene Puente, a self described outlaw and artist, focuses on works that primarily involve acrylic on wood paintings.

💍Que Sera Designs at The Elemental Shop (312 Elm Ave)

Visit The Elemental Shop and check out the works of Que Sera Designs: Que Sera Designs will showcase artisan, handcrafted jewelry, in various designs and styles, usually featuring natural gemstones and mixed metals. Also multimedia and assemblage art of various 3D types.

🎶💿 COVERS at Record Box (324 Elm Ave)

Don’t miss out on this amazing event where artists have come together for the community during the fourth installment of Record Box’s COVERS art show. The majority of all sales from artwork purchases will be donated to LA fire relief efforts. Record Box paired records missing their original cover with artists to create new re-imagined 1 of 1 covers, with the group show curated by the talented @artisttocs.

🎶Project WomanGood Pop-Up & Adam Valenzuela of Love Soul Productions (240 Long Beach Blvd.)

Visit Project WomanGood‘s vintage retail pop-up at the former Acres of Books building and support a good cause. Adam Valenzuela of Love Soul Productions will also be popping up to sell records and other merch.

🚴FREE Bike Valet + Artists Double Outlines, Custom Pet Portraits at the GoActiveLB Hub powered by Pedal Movement (223 E 1st St.)

Stop by Pedal Movement, park your bike for free, and get a custom pet portrait by artist Sucely! Double Outlines, created by husband and wife duo Kenny and Lucy in 2020, are visual artists based in Long Beach. Their specialties include illustration, graphic design, street art/murals, and branding. Together we turn everyday, inanimate objects and empty spaces into visual works of art. The main trademarks of their murals and illustrations are vibrant colors, shapes, and characters. These help to create a sense of fun and warmth that are both welcoming and familiar.

📸 Alepsis Hernandez, Joanna Branch at Beachwood Blendery (247 Long Beach Blvd)

Alepsis Hernandez is a Long Beach-based visual artist who is primarily self-taught. Her drawings are reruns of long nights, innocent moments, and self-awareness, while her murals can be found throughout the city. Joanna Branch works in mixed digital media, using photography and digital art to create images of abstract or expressionist in nature. Often these ideas or images are created through her travels in different countries, or sometimes through events and observations in here everyday life in Long Beach.

🧑‍🎨️ Artists José M. Loza, Ron the Killer at Library of Technics (205 Long Beach Blvd)

Visit the Library of Technics to see the art of two established local artists, José M. Loza and Ron the Killer. José M. Loza‘s work explores cultural memory, identity, and resilience through printmaking, sculpture, murals, and community-based projects. Navigating displacement and belonging, I use visual storytelling to challenge dominant narratives and connect contemporary struggles with ancestral knowledge. Incorporating materials like window screens, aerosol, and textiles, my work bridges personal and collective histories, transforming everyday spaces into sites of memory, resistance, and imagination.

Dynamic and thought-provoking, Ron the Killer‘s work blends elements of street art, 3D design, and interactive installations to challenge societal norms while conveying positive messages. With a signature style rooted in bold graffiti aesthetics and character-driven storytelling, Ron the Killer’s work often incorporates augmented reality, custom sculptures, and LED elements to create immersive experiences. Ron the Killer explores themes of identity, surveillance, and human connection, using humor and striking visuals to engage and inspire audiences.

🐍 Intertrend’s Year of the Snake Celebration (228 E Broadway)

Visit The Psychic Temple and Intertrend’s Lunar New Year installation and play a giant interactive game of snake using cutting-edge projection mapping technology and reimagining the nostalgic Nokia Snake game. The installation was brought to life through a collaborative effort between Intertrend Communications, Boring Labs USA, and B1n4ry.

💡 Creative Class Collective presents Rhizome or Die by artist b1n4ry (2-7PM,213 E Broadway)

Visit the historic Edison Theatre and take in the lights and visuals of b1n4ry, presented by Creative Class Collective. Rhizome or Die delves into the contemporary ways humans contribute to a decaying world. It highlights issues such as rising sea levels, increased oil and gas extraction, and the strain placed on power grids by new technologies like AI. This thought-provoking art installation examines humanity’s impact on the environment while exploring innovative solutions to these challenges.

cindy “cindita” macias at Broadstone Inkwell (201 The Promenade N)

Artist cindy “cindita” macias’ work is part installation, part performance, but all inspired by candy, canciones & xicanx culture.

🍻 CIACLA presents Bobby Zithelo at The Ordinarie Tavern (210 The Promenade N)

Stop by The Ordinarie and check out the photography show by CIACLA presents Bobby Zithelo: The Contemporary Irish Center Los Angeles (CIACLA) proudly presents work by Bobby Zithelo. A curated selection of works, one of the most exciting contemporary artists based in Dublin, Ireland, excels in blending his own artistic and commercial work with visual storytelling. Zithelo’s work on display showcases a selection of Irish Musicians, Poets and Artists, including Amanda Ade, Choy-Ping Ní Chléirigh, Dagogo Hart, Felispeaks, Holly Pereire, Jafaris, JyellowL, Leo Miyagee, Lisa Hannigan, Loah, Mubby, Nealo, Paddy Tunga and Roisin El Cherif.

Bobby Zithelo is known for his active role in photographing the current Irish Music Scene and documentaries provide poignant insights into contemporary Irish life, focusing on themes of race, identity, and the challenges faced by young people. Zithelo’s work offers a unique perspective that reflects his dedication to exploring cultural identity and social issues through his practice.

🍻 Artist Tori Kanhayuwa at ISM Brewing & Kitchen (210 E 3rd St Unit A)

Visit ISM Brewing along The Promenade and check out the colorful art prints, greeting cards and stickers featuring food, snacks, and drinks by Tori Kanhayuwa, Don’t miss the recently added handmade clay magnets as well! The shop mainly focuses foods/drinks/snacks with Asian American influences and come in various sizes.

🎇 Light Streaks at Loiter Galleries (425, The Promenade N)

Light Streaks is an experimental collaboration between Loiter Galleries and Long Beach local artists Kati and Ivaylo Angelov. This surprising and vibrant art and light exhibition consists of Ivaylo Angelov’s traditional abstract paintings, and Kati Angelov’s novel projection mapping art. The two mediums are not meant to coexist, which makes this a unique experience not only for Long Beach, but for the art world overall.

The husband/wife artist duo have been honing their individual crafts for decades, and this is the first time they’re showing their work together. It’s an experimental combination of the oldest and latest technologies for creating art, a marriage of the tactile and gritty to the gentle and ephemeral.

🌟 Be the Light: A DTLB Storefront Art Illumination (375 The Promenade North)

Loiter Galleries and DTLB Alliance bring you a brilliant storefront activation project, with stunning light projection art by The Fox, The Folks called “The Parade”, curated by the amazing Kati Angelov with technical support by Abdul Meelar. Thanks to our generous friends at Mosaic for hosting.

Visit Altar Society Brewing & Coffee Co. and check out the group art and music show, ALTAR’D VISIONS starting at 7PM with special musical guests Secret Service x Sodiane.

💞 Portrait Artist Matthew Brooks at Adam & Eve (213 Pine Ave.)

Visit Adam & Eve and check out the artwork of Matthew Brooks, an artist and character designer who creates stylized portrait art featuring striking faces and surreal elements as both pencil drawings and digital paintings. Brooks also designs shirts and other apparel applying his artwork to create artwear and streetwear.

💘CONNECTED, DISCONNECTED Art Show & Silent Disco at Shannon’s Corner (209 Pine Ave)

A vibrant fusion of art, music, and history! Stop by Shannon’s Corner for a free art show and silent disco. Enjoy a full bar, DJ sets, live music by Chad Bishop, and a live radio show by 99.1 FM KLBP.

Explore vintage radios on display and discover the rich history of Black artists and radio shows as we celebrate Black History Month and the arts. Don’t miss this unique experience—RSVP now at atthetop.shannonscorner.com!

Also popping up will be artist Akira, a muralist/artist born and based in Los Angeles. He has lived in Long Beach for 8 years which has been a crucial influence in shaping his art. He will be offering original artwork, prints, postcards, patches, pins at his booth.

🎙Bread & Butter, Stephanie E’amato at BO-beau kitchen + roof tap (144 Pine Ave)

Bread & Butter specializes in the genre made famous by Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Sarah Vaughn, and Billie Holiday, 1930-1940 Jazz Standards.

Stephanie E’amato is a local LBGTQ photographer who also practices fine art photography. E’amato’s main focus is documentary photography.

🎶 Tian Musica at Cafe Sevilla (8-11PM, 140 Pine Ave #2)

Visit Cafe Sevilla for dynamic live music! From 8-11 PM Tian Musica, and 10 PM -1 AM Tian Musica & Band + Alternating DJ Set.

🌈 Liz Cervantes at Buono’s Authentic Pizzeria (250 W Ocean Blvd)

Grab a slice of pizza and check out the watercolor paintings of local artist Liz Cervantes. Cervantes is a Latina LGBTQ+ artist who paints watercolors that glow with black light.
