“The Wizard of Oz” Screening with Live Organ

First Church Screens 1925 Silent Film Version of “The Wizard of Oz” with LIVE Organ Long Beach, CA — First Congregational Church of Long Beach will screen the 1925 silent film version of “The Wizard of Oz”–an early adaptation that inspired the acclaimed 1939 version–on Friday, October 24th at 6:30p.m., with live organ accompaniment by Robert York. Attendees are encouraged to come in costume to kick off the week leading up to Halloween.
Robert York, a professional musician, composer, church organist and pianist has performed at numerous venues including the historic Orpheum Theater in Los Angeles. On October 24th, he will return to First Church to accompany the film screening of “Oz” on First Church’s powerful 70-rank Moeller Organ.
First Congregational Church of Long Beach is a 1914 historic landmark and sits at the corner of “Arts & Justice” as a local leader in social justice & outreach initiatives and has a passion for bringing music and art events to the downtown Long Beach area.
