Since the Safer At Home order began, many of us have experienced countless new ways to continue social interactions while maintaining physical distance. One of the most common trends has been the rise in popularity of virtual events. These web-based gatherings have been quickly adopted by event producers looking to create alternatives for in-person activities, as well as by businesses that were forced to shut their doors.

Some notable Downtown stakeholders who have adapted content for virtual events include the Arts Council for Long Beach, Pedal Movement, the Long Beach Post, and even local drag queen and personality, Jewels. From casual meetups to informational webinars, live performances to shop tours, these virtual events have provided a way for us to feel connected to one another.

The Downtown Long Beach Alliance is embracing this trend, and in doing so we have rebranded our Events Calendar as a Virtual Events Calendar. We are currently accepting submissions for virtual events relevant to our DTLB community. If you know of, or are hosting a DTLB virtual event, please share it with us here.

In addition to sharing others’ virtual events, we are working on producing streamable versions of some of our signature events, such as Taste of Downtown (details coming soon!), and the P.A.C.E. program, an entrepreneur coaching program in partnership with Fuller Management that has moved to providing virtual appointments for DTLB businesses. We are also in the process of creating a series of webinars to help business owners share ideas and learn new ways to optimize their operations for a post-COVID-19 world.
