Mar 22, 2020: The City of Long Beach is asking all community members to comply with the statewide Safer At Home order voluntarily, and has directed its police department to identify enforcement and operational measures related to the order.

Police officers dispatched to calls related to non-compliance with the order have been asked to first educate the persons involved in order to promote voluntary compliance, and are encouraged to consider enforcement as a last course of action. Violations of the health order may be reported to the city’s non-emergency line, (562) 435-6711.

It is a misdemeanor crime for any business to fail to comply with the health order, punishable by fine, imprisonment or both. If businesses do not comply voluntarily, a citation may be issued. Civil enforcement measures such as revocation of business and health permits are also possible. Various city departments are working together to review complaints against businesses.
