It’s a type of bicycling competition that stands out from the typical. Rather than clear pathways where pure speed is the name of the game, city cross is about bringing in more dynamic obstacles that require a bit more than just pedaling.

Like riding over crushed cars.

No joke.

That is why SoCalCross’s City Cross course coming to DTLB’s Bike Fest on May 7 is easily one of the most badass aspects of Bike Fest. Stretching along the western edge of the event’s boundaries, cyclists willing to compete will deal with everything from sandpits to dismounts, dumpsters to riding over pallets. There’s even a Donut Zone where one has to mow through a donut and keep going.

This is City Cross and anyone with a sense of fun’n’competitiveness will be severely missing out if they don’t partake.

You can register today; online registration closes at 6PM on Friday, May 6. Race day registration will be available at Linden & Broadway starting at 11AM and closes 20 minutes before race start.
