Good news: bollards are officially a part of Pine Avenue, ensuring safety during DTLB events. Construction, recently completed on February 25, placed bollards on Pine at each intersection of 1st, Broadway, and 3rd Street.

While construction brought with it pavement and sidewalk saw cutting along with two weeks of road closures on Pine, the permanent installations have also brought significantly increased safety.

A bollard is a short post designed to identify or segment a location, guide traffic or protect sensitive areas. It provides an effective visual barrier for vehicles and pedestrians and can offer significant impact protection where effective security is required.

Pine’s particular bollards will only be visible during events, rising from underground to protect pedestrians and event-goers from vehicles. Should a vehicle lose control, these bollards will withstand the impact and prevent the vehicle from careening into sensitive areas.
