The City of Long Beach has released a Request for Proposals (RFP) to contract with Long Beach-based food providers to prepare and package meals for seniors through the Great Plates Delivered Program. The RFP period begins today, May 18, and closes Thursday, May 21, at 11 am.

The program is expected to launch on May 29 and continue through June 10. The state is expected to request an extension of the program through July. Businesses interested in participating should visit the City of Long Beach Financial Management’s Purchasing Division webpage. Questions about the RFP may be directed to rfppurchasing@longbeach.gov.

A partnership with Governor Newsom and the State of California, Great Plates provides up to three meals daily for seniors aged 64 and older who are at high risk of COVID-19. The program is designed to benefit the restaurant and food industry by providing them with a new business opportunity.

The program is funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Public Assistance Program in combination with cost sharing by state and local governments.
