DTLB ENTERTAINMENT ZONE (EZ) SIP EVENTS
Overview
Welcome to everything you need to know about Downtown Long Beach’s Entertainment Zone (EZ) Sip Event pilot program.
Recently approved by the Long Beach City Council, this one-year pilot is exploring how designated “Entertainment Zones” can bring new energy to our Downtown streets — inspired by successful models in cities like San Francisco and Santa Monica. Over the coming months, the Downtown Long Beach Alliance (DTLB Alliance) will work closely with City departments to pilot EZ Sip Events — special, city-permitted gatherings where guests 21+ can purchase an alcoholic beverage from a participating bar, restaurant, brewery, or winery and enjoy it outside in a defined event area.
Picture yourself walking along the Promenade or Pine Avenue, sipping a locally crafted drink while enjoying live music, art activations, or pop-up vendors. These aren’t all-hours, free-for-alls — each event will be temporary, held during specific hours, and tailored to highlight our downtown culture while maintaining safety and community comfort.
The location and layout of each EZ Sip Event will vary, and all events must be approved through existing city permitting processes. At its core, this program is about testing how we can support small businesses, promote cultural engagement, and create a vibrant, inclusive downtown that works for everyone.
