It turns out the New York Post is discovering what so many of us have known since we stepped foot onto the grand shores of Long Beach: it is one of the best places to live.

After already having recognized Beachwood BBQ & Brewing as one of the best craft breweries in the nation, the New York Post decided to rank the 15 best places to live in the nation. Long Beach broke the top five by coming in at #4, being noted for its pedestrian- and bike-friendliness, our love of canines, and our chill vibe:

This relaxed coastal city of 469,000 is one of the most pedestrian- and bike-friendly in California, having aggressively implemented safe-streets measures in recent years. Protected bicycle lanes have increased ridership by 50 percent since 2012 and the city has been awarded a silver designation by the League of American Bicyclists. It’s welcoming to canines, too, with the only dedicated dog beach in Los Angeles County.

Rankings were created by measuring unique appeal, affordable rents, school systems, cultural events, green spaces, comfortable weather, and overall safety.

Number One? Bozeman, Montana.

Yup, you read that right: incredible weather (300 days on average per year of sun), highly educated, nature-centric, and culturally vibrant. (We learned something new with that as well.)
